Former President of the Republic of Ghana, John Agyekum Kuffuor has revealed that he still cannot wrap his mind around how his party, the New Patriotic Party managed to lose the 2008 elections despite all the good work they had done in government.
The former President who was speaking in an interview with veteran Journalist, Kwaku Sakyi Addo on Asaase FM noted that a combination of factors gave him some kind of a premonition that his party was likely to lose the election.
According to the former President, the death of his Finance Minister a few months to the 2008 elections, the global economic recession that bit hard at the Ghanaian economy and a bit of feet dragging by NPP supporters at the wee hours of the elections may have accounted as some of the reasons NPP lost grip of power.
Former President Kuffuor believes that democracy is not entirely about common sense or mathematics, adding that his party would have won the elections outright based on their solid record in government.
