Assin Central MP, nicknamed ‘Mr. Showdown’ has claimed that Ghanaians will reject anyone who has served under the Akufo-Addo regime, should that person be chosen to lead the Party in the 2024 polls.
In an interview conducted on Skyy Power FM on October 13, 2023, he contended that Ghanaians would be unlikely to support these individuals for an extended term unless there is compelling evidence of their significant contributions and accomplishments.
“So, delegates who are listening to me, because of the selfish interest of some leaders, they are pushing you to vote for a particular candidate, and that candidate also, if you vote for him, you can’t break the eight. read my lips, Ghanaians will deny anybody who has served under this government from breaking the eight, it is not possible…they should tell Ghanaians what they have done to prove that they can break the eight”.
In a seemingly critical remark directed at Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, who is also vying for the flagbearer position, Agyapong asserted, “Take a look at his track record; he initially focused on the economy, but now he has shifted his focus away from economic matters.”
Mr. Agyapong, however, appears to have forgotten that he is also a member of the Akufo-Addo regime, having served as Board Chairman of Ghana Gas since 2021.
