President Akufo Addo has disclosed that the free Senior High School policy which is currently in full force in Ghana was a research he conducted on advanced countries which convinced him to implement it if he ever becomes president.
Speaking on Wontumi radio and TV on Saturday August 1, he explained that before he became president he had the chance to research into the secret of advanced countries like the US, UK, Germany and others. According to him, he found out that emphasis was placed on education in these countries, at least the secondary school level.
“This motivated me to also make education my number one priority because i have come to realize that what matters to every country determined to succeed is to develop the human capacity – the people,” Akufo Addo stated.
Speaking on his contest with former president John Dramani Mahama ahead of the December polls, Akufo Addo insisted it’ll be based on records and achievements.
“My contest with John Mahama will be record-based. What he achieved when he was in power and what I have also achieved. After this, then we will look at what we can do in future,” he stressed.
President Akufo Addo further stated that he does not pay attention to doomsayers but rather focused on the task given him by Ghanaians.
“Our focus is on what the good people of Ghana have tasked us to do. What will capture my attention is not what the doomsayers are doing but what the Ghanaian people expect me to do,” he emphasized.
He added, “my second coming which I am pleading with you to help make it possible would see the completion of all road projects and I promise you that your worries will soon be over.”
President Akufo Addo is currently in the Ashanti region as part of a regional working tour.
