Former Metro TV Journalist Boldly Confirms He Is Gay After Denying It In 2015

Ghanaian journalist Ignatius Annor has come out as gay.

Annor, who worked for years as an anchor on Metro TV, said he denied his s*xuality publicly for years because he was afraid of losing his job and also being stigmatized in society.

The news anchor spoke with Joy News over the current trending issue of LGBT rights in the country.

Annor took the opportunity of the interview to reveal that he’s gay, although he has previously denied publicly numerous times that he’s gay.

“This is going to be the very first time that I am using your medium to say that not only am I an activist for the rights of Africa’s s*xual minorities, what you will call the LGBTQI community, but I am gay.

“Obviously, I denied it because I was afraid of losing my job, I was working at an incredible Television station in Accra and also for the fear of what would happen to me personally,” he said.

Annor has left Metro TV and currently works with Euro News, giving him the freedom to come out and declare his s*xuality.

According to him, there isn’t any special rights that gays are asking for but simply to be left alone to also live their lives.

“What my community is asking for is the opportunity to love like all humanity loves, particularly in the case of Ghana hetero-s*xuals,”

Annor’s confession comes after denying vehemently in 2015 that he was gay at a time when rumours about him were swirling around.
