The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced the disqualification of Bernard Mornah from the People’s National Convention (PNC) and Janet Nabla of the People’s National Party (PNP) from contesting in the upcoming presidential elections scheduled for December 7, 2024.
This decision was revealed in a communiqué released by the EC on Friday, September 20, 2024. In addition to Mornah and Nabla, several other presidential hopefuls have also been disqualified, including Nana Stephens Adjepong, Paul Perkoh, James Kwesi Oppong, John Enyonam Kwakwu Kpikpi, Dr. Samuel Sampong Ankrah, and Nii Amu Darko. Other candidates affected by the disqualification are Samuel Apea-Danquah, Desmond Abrefah, and Kofi Asamoah Siaw of the Progressive People’s Party.
The EC’s action follows a thorough examination of the Nomination Forms submitted by presidential candidates during the nomination period, which ran from September 9 to September 13, 2024. The EC reviewed the submissions to ensure they met all legal requirements necessary for qualification.
Despite these disqualifications, the EC has confirmed that several other candidates have successfully met the necessary criteria and are cleared to participate in the 2024 Presidential Election.
