Some Concerned Youth of Kwahu have formally petitioned the Kwahumanhemaa, Nana Adwoa Gyamfua II, and the Adontenhene/Abetifihene, Nana Akyeamfour Asiedu Agyemang II, calling for urgent action over alleged misconduct involving the Kwahuhene, Daasebre Akuamoah Agyapong II. The allegations stem from Daasebre Akuamoah Agyapong II’s tenure as board chairman of the Agricultural Development Bank Plc (ADB) and his subsequent resignation from the position.

The youth group claims that Daasebre Akuamoah Agyapong II has been involved in acts of inducement, extortion, and other forms of misconduct, which they argue have tarnished the reputation of the Kwahu chieftaincy institution. In their petition, the group insists that these issues have caused significant embarrassment to the kingdom, and they urge the Kwahumanhemaa and Adontenhene to take decisive steps within the next seven days to address the situation.

The Concerned Youth assert that swift action is necessary to preserve the dignity and sanctity of the Kwahu Kingdom, emphasizing that such matters, if left unaddressed, could have lasting repercussions on the respected chieftaincy institution. They call for adherence to the customs of Kwahu in handling the situation to restore confidence among the people of the kingdom.

The petition further warns that if their demands are not met within the stipulated timeframe, they will be compelled to explore other legal options available under the 1992 Constitution of the Republic of Ghana.

As of now, no official response has been issued by the Kwahumanhemaa, Adontenhene, or Daasebre Akuamoah Agyapong II regarding the allegations or the petition, except for acknowledging receipt of the petition. The Kwahu Kingdom, known for its rich cultural heritage, continues to monitor the situation as stakeholders and traditional authorities assess the concerns raised by the youth.

This development has attracted attention, with many hoping for a resolution that upholds the customs and integrity of the Kwahu chieftaincy. The coming days will be critical in determining the course of action by the traditional authorities in response to the youth group’s demands.
