Akufo-Addo Has Bastardized Independent Constitutional Bodies – Mahama

Former President John Mahama claims that the Akufo-Addo administration has made it impossible for independent constitutional bodies to carry out their responsibilities without interference.

One of these examples, he claims, is the manner in which former Auditor General Yaw Domelevo was removed from office.

“A troubling tendency is the bastardization of independent constitutional bodies, which obstructs their neutrality and places deliberate constraints on their ability to act freely and in accordance with the constitution’s mandate.”

“As a result of this purposeful strategy, highly politicized and conflicted individuals have been appointed to positions inside such institutions.” Along with the arbitrary firing of individuals who have dared to operate independently and fairly. Mr. Mahama stated this at the NDC’s ‘Ghana at a Crossroads’ event held on Monday at the Kempinski Hotel in Accra.

“Interesting arrogant replies from government officials to public complaints have frequently exacerbated the people’s irritation and fury,” he stated.

“A government that despises ideas has resorted to imprisoning critical voices, calling citizens names, and unfairly categorizing the labor force and large numbers of unemployed kids as lazy and undeserving,” he continued.

“Worse of all, the government has been utilizing uncontrolled screaming and insincere tactical analysis leading to dubious analysis and blatant lies to manage narrative,” the former President added.
