Former Ghanaian President and National Democratic Congress (NDC) Presidential Candidate John Dramani Mahama has called on Ghanaians to turn out in large numbers to support the NDC in the upcoming elections. Mahama highlighted the critical importance of a decisive mandate, asserting that a clear victory for the NDC would pave the way for the transformative changes Ghanaians are seeking.
Addressing supporters, Mahama emphasized the need for vigilance at every step of the electoral process to ensure the integrity of the vote. He urged Ghanaians, especially NDC supporters, to remain alert and actively protect their ballots against any potential interference, framing this as essential to achieving a fair and accurate election outcome.
Mahama compared the NDC’s current campaign to “communal labor,” underscoring that this effort requires unity and a collective commitment from every member. He described the campaign as a shared mission to “rescue” Ghana from its current challenges, a vision he believes will be realized through the combined effort of dedicated supporters across the nation.
Expressing some concern over the judiciary’s impartiality, Mahama stated that he has reservations about the likelihood of a fair outcome should the NDC be compelled to dispute the election results in court. This view, he suggested, underscores the urgency of a definitive victory that would avoid any need for legal recourse. Mahama encouraged NDC supporters to remain focused, united, and determined in the final phase of the campaign.
“We have to win with a huge margin so they don’t even consider taking the results to court. They have positioned the judiciary with their people, and we will not get justice,” he asserted. “This election, we are winning right at the polling stations. We’re not going to court.”
Mahama concluded by reiterating the importance of strong electoral participation and unwavering dedication from NDC supporters to ensure a transparent and credible election, ultimately securing a clear mandate for the party.
