Director General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), COP Ken Yeboah has indicated that the Department is only doing its job and not seeking to target former President John Mahama as has been suggested by some members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The CID Boss’ comment comes on the back of NDC members accusing the police of fabricating an International Criminal Police Organisation (Interpol) red alert to attack the integrity of former President Mahama.
That position has been expressed by both the National Communications Officer of the party, Sammy Gyamfi and Abraham Amaliba, a member of the NDC’s legal team. The latter believes the red alert is a hoax, planned to please the ruling government and turn the former President, whose brother is one of the ‘fugitives’ into a benefactor.
But responding to these allegations, COP Yeboah said nobody mentioned the former President’s name in the red alert and therefore it cannot be described as an attempt to target him.
“The Special Prosecutor’s Office requested us to inform interpol that they’ve done some investigations and he needed these four people to prosecute and so we forwarded it to the interpol’s headquarters and then they replied that they gone through it and have issued a red alert for the four, it is genuine.
