Voter Registration Violence – Akufo Addo Is The Greatest Pretender – Muntaka Jabs

Published

on

Member of Parliament for Asawase, Mohammed Muntaka Munbarak has slammed President Akufo Addo for claiming he had no knowledge about the violence that characterized the voters registration exercise.

The MP described the president as a pretender who is only feigning ignorance about the violent incidents.

There have been reports of military intimidation at some registration centres and regions like Volta where the military questioned people about their nationalities. Other places like Bono region also recorded some violence that claimed the life of one young man.

However, President Akufo Addo speaking to Islamic worshipers in Kumasi Central Mosque on Friday July 31, 2020 said, “one thing that excites me most is that the registration exercise in Ashanti region and other areas has been very peaceful. I haven’t heard of any person being denied the opportunity to register on grounds that you are not this or what so go, we can’t register you every person has the right to go and register.”

He added, “what I have heard is that the exercise is going on smoothly in Asawase and Asokore-Mampong. We thank God for that. That is the most important thing to us all to leave in unity and peace.”

In reaction Muntaka Mubarak admonished the President calling him a pretender. He quizzed how it was not possible for him to hear about the violence after all the several media reports.

He said, “I’ve now come to convince myself that our president is the greatest pretender because most of these things he’s very much aware… You tell me all these videos, even his national security people are not telling him?”

“He knew everything, he’s pretending that he didn’t know that there was military in the Volta region, military people in Banda, that’s a lie. With all the confusion that it circulated, you can’t tell me that you don’t know…you see military people in queue asking people questions about their nationality. What has become of our country,” Muntaka told GhanaWeb.

Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia has noted that the President Akufo-Addo led government are chartering the nation on a new path.

According to him, since independence the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) is the only party that has done something entirely new for the country, citing free shs, one constituency, one ambulance.

He made this assertion while speaking at the launch of the ‘Aspirants Unite for Victory’ in Accra on Monday.

”This morning I sat down at my desk and asked myself this question; what are the transformational things we have done? I started listing and listed 60 things we have done that we haven’t done since independence. So are charting a new cause. We have done so much in the last 4 years. We promised free SHS we’ve delivered. We have one constituency one ambulance, we have Planting for Food and Jobs, we are exporting 17 crops. Trucks are coming in from Nigeria to buy food crops,” he said.

We Have Successfully Retrieved Missing Names On Voters’ Register – EC

Published

The Electoral Commission has noted that it has been able to retrieve names of “valid electorate” that it initially failed to capture into the provisional register that was recently compiled.

Speaking to the media on Monday September 28, chairperson of the commission, Mrs Jean Mensah said, “we have successfully retrieved and continue to retrieve valid applicants who were missing from the provisional register. We have updated the electronic register with the missing data.”

Thus, the EC Chair implied that the alleged 7,000 and counting applicants whose names were alleged to have been deliberately removed from the register, “are on the electronic register”.

She said, “In the case of Ashaiman, we have a deficit of 165 persons and we are expecting that these persons will come through the register through the process of inclusion.”

Aside Being Incompetent, Mahama Has Also Proven To Be ‘Visionless’ – Bawumia Jabs

Published

on

Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has launched a fresh attack on former president John Dramani Mahama, describing him as visionless.

Speaking as the special guest at the launch of the ‘Aspirants for Victory 2020’ at the La-Palm Royal Beach Hotel today, Monday, September 28, 2020, Bawumia noted that John Mahama has graduated from being incompetent to become visionless.

“We could not pay the NHIS service providers, he had to cancel the teacher trainer allowance, he had to cancel the nursing training allowance, froze the hiring of workers, and even chalk in schools was a problem. This is incompetence. Are we going to go back to incompetence? Not only has he proven to be incompetent, but he has also proven to not have credibility. No credibility, and no vision. He (Mahama) said the free SHS was a hoax, but now he said he introduced it. He said if he had 2 billion, he wouldn’t invest it in free SHS but now says he want to expand it to private schools. Have you heard this before?” he quizzed.

He challenged the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer to show his vision for the country and not just mere promises.
