There Would Have Been A Coup If All This Stealing Happened Under NDC – John Mahama

John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has voiced strong criticism of the current government’s handling of bribery and corruption, suggesting that if similar misconduct had occurred during the NDC’s tenure, a coup might have already taken place in Ghana.

Speaking to a charged audience in Accra, Mahama emphasized the severity of the situation under the ruling government, stating that widespread corruption persists unchecked due to the silence of those responsible for holding the government accountable.

“I must be honest with you; if the bribery and corruption happening under this government had occurred under the NDC, we would have had a coup by now. The level of thievery going on is far worse, yet many people choose hypocrisy over truth, refusing to see or speak out against the wrongs in Ghana,” Mahama remarked.

The former president expressed optimism about the NDC’s chances in the 2024 general elections, assuring supporters that once the NDC returns to power, those who are currently silent will find their voices again. “I am confident NDC will win in 2024. But when we do, those who have toothaches and cannot criticize this government will start to speak out. Hypocrisy is holding this nation back. We must see and speak the truth, regardless of who is in office—whether it is black or white, we must call it as it is,” he added.

Mahama’s comments come amid growing concerns about corruption in Ghana, with calls for greater transparency and accountability within the government. His remarks reflect a broader campaign theme of restoring integrity and truth in governance.
