President Akufo-Addo has been urged to, in his capacity as ECOWAS Chair, call on Ivory Coast’s President, Alassane Ouattara, to step down from his planned third term bid.
This comes after the Ivorian leader disclosed that he’ll be running for President again for the third term, after the sudden death of his handpicked successor, the previous month, created a leadership vacuum at the governing RDHP party.
An analysis by IMANI Francophone, an extension of the IMANI Center for Policy and Education based in Ghana, noted that Ivory Coast will have its peace preserved if Ouattara steps down.
IMANI President, Franklin Cudjoe stated, “I urge ECOWAS Chairman, Nana Addo to call on Ouattara to stand down from his planned third term bid in order to preserve the precarious peace.”
