Sulley Muntari Retires From Football At Age 38



At the age of 38, former Hearts of Oak and Ghanaian midfielder Sulley Muntari has declared his retirement from the game.

Muntari has been without a club since leaving Ghana Premier League club Hearts of Oak in the summer, despite making 80 Black Stars appearances and scoring 20 goals.Beforeto joining Serie A club Udinese, where he played for five years, he started his career with the local team Liberty Professionals.

The Champions League winner in 2010 also played for Inter Milan, AC Milan, and English Premier League clubs Portsmouth and Sunderland.

“I only spent a short time with thneighbourhoodod team, Hearts of Oak. I was asked to play by my son. After almost three years without playing, my kid asked me to go and play. “I did it, but I’m finished now,” Muntari remarked on Monday to Sky Sports.

Between 2002 and 2014, Muntari played for Ghana and was essential to the nation’s qualifying for the World Cups in Germany (2006), South Africa (2010), and Brazil (2014).

What the former Ac Millan player will do after hanging up his boots is unknown. He is presently in the Black Stars’ camp for the Qatar 2022 World Cup.
