A Communications team member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwesi Botchwey has taken on lawmaker, Okudzeto Ablakwa for complaining that President Akufo-Addo hired a private jet for his foreign travels.
According to Ablakwa, the President spent a whooping GH¢2.8 Million of taxpayers money on a private jet to his recent trips to France and Johannesburg.
In a post on Facebook, the legislator said the president decided to rent an aircraft that cost the Ghanaian taxpayer £15,000 an hour.
Reacting to these claims on Rainbow Radio, Mr Botchwey said the President had no choice than to rent a private jet for his travels because the Presidential jet is faulty.
According to him, since the country is in no position to purchase a new one, it’s important the President charters one for his safety anytime he travels.
He wondered if Mr Ablakwa and the NDC wanted the President to use ‘trotro’ whenever he travels.
“The hypocrisy of the NDC is legendary. They have no moral right to comment. Do they expect Nana Addo to travel from Accra in a trotro abroad? Should he travel on a bicycle?”
