Report: How NPP Bigwigs Tried To Save Owusu Bempah And How IGP Dampare Stood His Ground – Is Sammy Gyamfi Right About Claims That Bempah Is Being Hounded For Supporting Alan?

National Communications Officer of the opposition NDC, Sammy Gyamfi has claimed that embattled man of God, Isaac Owusu Bempah is being hounded by the NPP in retaliation.

According to Sammy Gyamfi, the controversial cleric is being punished for taking the side of Alan Kyeremateng in the NPP flagbearership race.

Though there is absolutely no iota of evidence to support Sammy Gyamfi’s claims, the chronology of events as it played out during the detention of Owusu Bempah, may somehow appear to lend credence to the NDC Communications Officer’s claims.

Online Portal, Mynewsgh reported that according to their sources, Owusu Bempah who had been taken to the Police hospital for treatment after his detention without handcuffs, was immediately handcuffed to his bed after so-called orders from acting IGP, George Akuffo Dampare.

This, Mynewsgh reports, led to a massive scuffle between Hopeson Adorye and Ernest Owusu Bempah who had gone to the hospital to lend support to the embattled cleric on one hand, and personnel of the Ghana Police Service on the other hand.

According to the report, the personnel of the Ghana Police Service actually threatened to shoot Hopeson Adorye’s head off in the heat of the scuffle.

NPP stalwarts, including Madam Ama Busia, after failing to pull strings behind the scenes to get Owusu Bempah released, finally had to rely on the legal acumen of Gary Nimako Marfo.

But is this a case of an acting IGP asserting his authority as a law enforcement agent or is this a case of political retaliation as Sammy Gyamfi seeks to infer?

Well, time will certainly tell.
