Rejecting The 2022 Budget Means Gov’t Will Not Have Any Money To Pay Your Salaries – Gabby Subtly Threatens Ghanaians?

NPP Stalwart, Gabby Otchere Darko has said that Parliament’s rejection of the 2022 budget yesterday could have dire consequences for the entire country.

Parliament yesterday unanimously rejected the 2022 budget after the majority caucus staged a walk out.

The NPP caucus walked out of proceedings after the speaker declined their protests to sack the General Secretary of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah from the public gallery.

The majority caucus were incensed after the speaker earlier gave a directive for the Finance Minister to leave the floor of the house before voting took place.

Following their walk out, the Speaker commenced business with the remaining lawmakers on the minority side after failing to get the majority to return.

The minority subsequently voted unanimously to reject the 2022 budget which they have described as “awudie” budget.

However, in a reaction on Twitter almost immediately, Gabby Otchere Darko reminded Ghanaians that a rejection of the budget meant there will be no money for any government activity including paying salaries of public sector workers.

But for many social media users who commented under the post, Mr. Otchere Darko’s comment represented a subtle threat.
