Rawlings Did Not Slap Arkaah – Prof. Kwamena Ahwoi Narrates What Actually Happened At The Cabinet Meeting

Prof. Kwamena Ahowi, a founding member of the National Democratic Congress, and a man who has worked for so many years with former President JJ Rawlings since the PNDC era has clarified that President Rawlings did not slap his then-vice President, Kow Nkensen Arkaah, as has been widely circulated.

Rumours have long been peddled that former President Rawlings slapped his vice President at a cabinet meeting after they had disagreed on an issue. The rumours were given a level of credibility because it is on record that the said vice President himself reported the case of assault at the Cantonments police station at the time with his torn coat.

However, Prof. Kwamena Ahowi, who was also present at the said cabinet meeting has dispelled those rumours, clarifying that the incident never happened as speculated.

According to Prof. Ahowi, there was an incident between the two, but Commodore Obimpeh, who was sitting next to vice president Arkaah quickly intervened to restrain the two from laying hands on each other, even though they both fell to the ground.

Responding to the matter of the torn coat, Prof. Ahwoi said it was an act of Arkaah to implicate President Rawlings. Prof. Ahwoi insisted that Arkaah might have torn the coat himself just to have evidence against the President.
