Qatar World Cup: Ghana Would’ve Gone Far If All Players Were Like Ayew Brothers – Alhaji Grusah

The Black Stars management committee member Alhaji Grusah has defended Ghana captain Andre Ayew.

Ayew has faced requests to leave the national team, but Grusah thinks he should stay since he is still an important part of the Black Stars.

Ayew’s previous World Cup performances have drawn criticism, but Grusah thinks that Ayew’s services to the squad go beyond his on-field performance and that he serves as a vital leader and role model for the team’s younger players.

When asked about Ayew’s detractors in an interview with Akoma FM, Grusah responded, “For those who are asking for Dede’s retirement, I want to question how old is Cristiano Ronaldo?

“If only Dede can take good care of himself, we still need him. We can’t go into a tournament without senior players. Ghanaians were angry over his penalty miss, but they soon forgot what he did for us against South Africa.”

He continued: “People were just making unnecessary noise about his reporting early at camp, was it wrong as a captain if he reports first at camp?

“If most of our players were committed and dedicated to the team just as Dede and his brother did for us, Ghana would have gone far.”
