Prisoners in Sekondi Central Prison in the Western Region, over the weekend, protested fiercely against the low quality of food being served them.
The prisoners chanted war songs, demanding that the quality of their food be improved.
DSP Netser Adjettey, the public relations officer of the Sekondi Prisons confirmed the incident to the media.
Government, over the years has been paying GHS 1.80 per inmate as feeding grant.
DSP Netser Adjettey said they had put in place measures to ensure that such protests do not occur again.
He, however, pleaded with religious organizations and private individuals to support them with food items to complement government effort.
