According to the Small Scale Poultry Farmers Association, the price of eggs will increase on Monday, May 2nd, 2022.
A tiny egg crate will now cost GH¢30, a medium size and unsorted crate will cost GH¢32, a cedi more for the Large size egg crate, and an extra cedi for the Extra Large egg crate.
General Secretary of the Association Fred Damoah told GHOne Business’ Emmanuel Agyabeng that they had to raise their rates due to the high cost of feed.
“For the past two years, the prices of our ingredients have been skyrocketing, and we haven’t been able to do anything about it.” We are seeing increases in the cost of feed due to the rate at which poultry farms are closing down and how prices are increasing. He explained, “We had to join together, have a single voice, and then set a common pricing.”

Meanwhile, the Ghana National Association of Poultry Farmers (GNAPF) says considering the current challenges confronting the industry, it’s also increasing the price of egg. For both associations, the Starting price is GH¢30 and ends at GH¢34 for a crate of eggs.
