Power Play Intensifies In NPP As Alan Kyerematen, Bawumia Visit Kumasi Churches On 31st December

To some, it was just two bigwigs of the NPP visiting congregations to thank the Lord for the passing of an eventful year and to usher in a new one.

To some, it may just be a coincidence that two revered politicians in the NPP decided to visit Churches in the Party’s stronghold on 31st December.

Both scenarios may be correct, but it could very well be also that the scenarios listed above are not true of the situation on the ground.

It is a fact that Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and Alan Kyerematen are the two favorites with regards to who leads the NPP after Akufo-Addo.

Having already contested Akufo-Addo twice in the past, Alan Kyerematen would have been the safest guess to lead the NPP from 2024.

However, Bawumia’s towering influence since his introduction into the Party, his maturity into a first class politician, and his superior influence in the Northern regions has strategically positioned him as the favorite to lead the NPP.

Despite the fact that he is a muslim, Dr Bawumia has built a cordial relationship with the Christian fraternity, often visiting men of God for prayers and counsel.

With Alan Kyerematen being in political hibernation for a significant few years, it is only logical that he also begins to market himself if he is to have any realistic chance of outdoing Bawumia, who has earned a cult following even in Alan’s own region.

It was really nice to see these two fine politicians visiting Churches in Kumasi yesterday but make no mistake, the real agenda is hidden behind the curtain.

The power play has just began and will intensify in the coming weeks, months and years.
