Ghanaian actress Joselyn Dumas grieved the death of digitalization in Ghana after the contentious e-levy was passed into law yesterday.

Joselyn Dumas sparked a conversation on Twitter after she agonised over the fate of the digitization agenda in the country. In a tweet that has over 500 retweets and comments, she pointed out many Ghanaians may resort to cash transfers by hand instead of electronic transactions.

She wrote, “People are emptying their MoMo left & right. I guess we’re back to Cash System in Ghana. E-Levy will be the demise of digitisation.”

Joselyn Dumas also described the charges as ridiculous at a 1.5% fee. “The charges are ridiculous!… What???” she added.

Whilst some Ghanaians on Twitter agree with her. Others believe that such a projection is far-fetch. Those in the latter group argue that mobile money transactions will be unaffected because people will always choose convenience.
