One NPP MP Down With Stroke – Asiedu Nketiah Explains Why NPP Cannot Pass E-Levy

The General Secretary of the opposition NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah has explained why he believes it will not be easy for the government to pass the controversial e-levy.

The e-transactions levy has faced significant opposition since it was announced by the Minister of Finance during the last budget reading.

Government has said that it intends to raise over 6 billion Cedis annually from the said levy which aims at introducing taxes on electronic transactions.

However, the minority caucus has fiercely resisted the levy, leading at times to fisticuffs and violence on the floor of parliament.

Government, though insists that it will get the bill passed, even though it has now emerged that NPP MP for Dome Kwabenya, Sarah Adwoa Safo is using her party’s almost equal numbers with the NDC to hold them to ransom.

According to Mr. Asiedu Nketiah, General Secretary of the NDC, Adwoa Safo is not the NPP’s only headache.

In an interview with renowned broadcaster, Nana Aba Anamoah on StarrChat, the controversial scribe claimed that an unnamed NPP MP is currently battling stroke in the ICU of an unnamed health facility.

Mr. Asiedu Nketiah believes that instead of being high handed and arrogant, the NPP should understand that the almost equal numbers in parliament calls for consensus building.
