Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, Member of Parliament (MP) for the Manhyia South seat of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has reiterated the party’s commitment to winning the 2024 elections.
Contrary to assertions that the incumbent party had fallen out of favor and was in danger of losing the upcoming vote, the energy minister declared that the NPP would not lose those elections.
He declared at a Tertiary Students Confederacy (TESCON) gathering in the Ashanti Region that “This party would not lose the election in 2024.”
According to Dr. Opoku Prempeh, the government’s actions to address the economic issues facing Ghanaians and the government will cause the problems to go away.
He said that, despite the evident challenges, the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has shown leadership and competence, and that things would have become worse if the National Democratic Congress, the rival party, had been in charge of the Ghanaian economy.
He urged the party’s young to be optimistic in the run-up to the 2024 elections, saying that certain party members who failed to advance in either the first or second term of the Nana Addo-led administration are wishing the party’s demise.
“No TESCON member should consider or harbor any doubts regarding 2024. Your and the party’s survival are essential to our 2024 victory. I wouldn’t want to retire with an opposition party. Go ask former President Kufuor if you’re unsure. What did he think of the NDC during his eight years in opposition and the six years under the NPP? Which one does he prefer? Therefore, it is preferable to be the ruling party’s garden boy rather than the landlord of the opposition party, he continued.
