The United Kingdom branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the Young Executives Forum (YEF) have collectively raised approximately £1.2 million to support the campaign of Vice President and presidential candidate Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for the upcoming 7 December 2024 general elections. This significant fundraising achievement was announced during a dinner dance held on Saturday, 22 June 2024, at the Landmark Hotel in Central London.
This amount marks the highest ever raised by the NPP-UK branch for an election campaign, surpassing previous records. In comparison, the NPP-UK and YEF raised $150,000 in 2016 and $450,000 in 2020, both of which contributed to the party’s electoral successes.
Dr. Bawumia, in his address at the event, expressed his profound gratitude to the NPP-UK and YEF for their exceptional support. He emphasized his commitment to leading a vigorous campaign aimed at ensuring the NPP’s victory in the 2024 elections, with a focus on fostering a mindset of possibilities among Ghanaians.
“The campaign has started in earnest,” Dr. Bawumia stated, highlighting the success of his first campaign tour across the 16 regions of Ghana. He announced plans to intensify campaign efforts in the coming months, with a strategic escalation of activities from July through November 2024.
General Secretary of the NPP, Justin Frimpong Koduah, praised the NPP-UK for its sustained contributions over the past 32 years. He stressed the importance of the 2024 elections, positioning Dr. Bawumia as a candidate capable of serving two terms and ensuring accountability and continuity in governance.
Kingsley Adumattah Agyapong, Chairman of the NPP-UK, reaffirmed the branch’s unwavering support for Dr. Bawumia, commending his contributions as Vice President, particularly in digitalization and economic reforms. He assured that NPP-UK members would be at the forefront of campaigning for Dr. Bawumia’s policies across all platforms.
Bennard Owusu, Chairman of the Young Executives Forum, also conveyed his gratitude for the support demonstrated through donations and pledges. He emphasized the collective effort required to ensure Dr. Bawumia’s election, highlighting the historic and transformative potential of his leadership.
