On July 16, 2023, John Dramani Mahama, the ex-President, paid a visit to Haruna Iddrisu, the former Minority Leader and Member of Parliament for Tamale South, at his home in Tamale, the capital of the Northern Region.

Despite the perceived rivalry between the two individuals, Haruna Iddrisu warmly received the former president at his residence, suggesting that any tensions between them were not evident during the visit.

On numerous occasions, Mahama has refuted any claims of friction or tension between him and the Tamale South legislator, despite rumors about their presidential ambitions.

The ex-president, also the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate, arrived at Haruna’s home and engaged briefly with the household before joining Haruna in the hall.

The former minority leader warmly greeted Mahama with smiles and pleasantries, offering him a seat. During their interaction, they exchanged jokes and shared laughter.

As part of a working visit to the Northern and Savanna Regions, Mahama also met with various chiefs and traditional rulers, including Tolon Naa Major Abubakari Sulemana (Rtd.), Kaasuliyili Naa Yakubu Bukari, Lingbun Naa Sayibu, and Nyankpala Naa Ibrahim Mahama.
