NDC Covid-19 Team Calls For Schools To Shut Down

The National Democratic Congress Covid-19 technical team has urged government to as a matter of urgency shut down schools to avoid the escalation of the Coronavirus amongst students.

In a statement signed by the Chairman of the team, the virus was spreading among students in various schools therefore government must act swiftly to save lives.

The statement further called for a mass testing before the shut down and also criticized government for failing to heed to earlier calls by the minority not to open schools.

“The lives of Ghanaian students, teachers and non-teaching staff should be valued equally, and Government must take immediate steps to reverse its decision and to begin the process of returning students to their homes.

“This will necessarily include mass testing of students to ascertain their Covid-19 status before they are released to their parents, to minimize the risk of exporting cases from campuses to communities.”
