Today, November 17th 2020 marks the 72nd birthday of Ghana’s longest-serving first lady, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings.
Even though today would have been a memorable day for the Rawlings’ family, today has rather turned out to be a gloomy one as the family mourns the departure of the Head of the family, former President JJ Rawlings.
Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, was born on the November 17, 1948, to the late J.O.T. Agyeman and his wife. She schooled at Achimota School, where she met her future husband Jerry John Rawlings.
She got married to her sweetheart, Jerry John Rawlings an Air force Officer, in 1977. The two love birds gave birth to their first child Ezenator Rawlings in 1978. Two other daughters, Yaa Asantewaa and Amina and a son, Kimathi followed later.
Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings was the First Lady of Ghana from 4 June 1979 to 24 September 1979 and 31 December 1981 to 7 January 2001, under President Jerry John Rawlings and born on November 17, 1948.
