MTN To Terminate 20,400 Mobile Money Agents Contract Over Fraudulent Activities

Contracts for MTN Mobile Money Agents caught in fraudulent activity will be cancelled.

Mobile money fraud is a deliberate act committed by scammers or fraudsters in order to acquire an unfair advantage over mobile money customers, operators, and agents.

Mobile Money fraud has become so widespread on the MTN Ghana network that it has been compared to a virus spreading through a society.

Fraudulent MoMo transactions, according to Eli Hini, General Manager of Mobile Money Limited, have an impact on the long-term viability of firms.

We would like to inform, all agents that MTN shall terminate it’s contract with some agents by the close of Monday, 11th October, 2021.

About 20,400 agents and still counting have been found guilty, in some fraudulent activities which are against the code and ethics of MTN.

We are therefore cautioning members of ABAG, who are affected, to as a matter of urgency, withdraw all their monies on their merchant SIM Cards before Monday, 11th October, 2021. Failure to comply by this directive shall result in the victims, losing their monies forever. Thank you.
