About 25 Nigerians including 24 males and a female have been arrested by the Ghana Immigration Service for attempting entering Ghana through illegal routes.
This hasn’t been the only arrest in this month but for the increase in numbers especially Nigerians for wanting to enter the country through unapproved routes.
Officials of the Ghana Immigration Service in South Tongu said the culprits could not give any tangible reason for the illegal entry when queried.
The District Commander of GIS, Chief Superitendent Shadrack Azangweo revealed that, the culprits have been moved to the Aflao Command to help with interrogation on how they entered the country though they would after be repatriated back to Aflao.
Mr. Azangweo explained that, as part of the COVID-19 protocols instituted by government, the 25 would be screened to check their COVID-19 status before any further action would be taken.
“We will advise the general public and drivers to support in this fight since the COVID-19 numbers keep increasing; just report any foreigner to the Immigration officers,” the Commander pleaded.
Mr Azangweo also urged all motor riders and car drivers to desist from aiding foreigners from entering the country illegally as anyone caught in such act would be made to face the law.
