It Is Only A Bad Leader Who Shirks Responsibilities And Shifts Blame – Mahama To Akufo-Addo

Former President John Mahama has chastised Nana Akufo-Addo for failing to accept responsibility for Ghana’s weak economy.

The 2020 Presidential candidate of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), speaking at the 40th anniversary honoring the 31st December Revolution, highlighted that the President’s blame game whenever projects backfire exposes poor leadership qualities.

“Responsibility is at the heart of leadership.” The only person who shirks obligations and shifts responsibility is a bad leader. We had a power crisis– dumsor in our country– for many years due to a lack of investment in generation, and we were consuming more energy than we produced.

“I been in that circumstance, and I didn’t say it wasn’t my fault.” On Friday, he said, “I went to Parliament, took responsibility for it, and vowed to solve it, which we did.”

Mr Mahama then made a dig at the Akufo-Addo administration.

If President Akufo-Addo “cannot do the job,” he says, he should “let the NDC to do it for you.”

“Today, someone [President Akufo-Addo] asserts that he inherited a bad economy that he hasn’t been able to fix after 5 years. He hinted, “It’s always about Mahama and the NDC.”

President Akufo-Addo, on the other hand, has claimed that his administration has excelled that of his predecessors.

On Sunday, December 9, during the National Delegates Conference of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), the President claimed that his government has achieved more victories than any other government in the Fourth Republic.

As a result, he encouraged all NPP members to be proud of his government’s accomplishments and preach about them.
