Member of Parliament for Ablekuma South Constituency, Hon. Dr. Alfred Oko Vanderpuije has put himself in the running for the vacant running mate post of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The former Mayor of Accra made this known in an interview on Citi TV’s Point of View with award-winning host Bernard Koku Avle on Monday, 15th June, 2020.
According to Hon. Oko Vanderpuije, he is ever ready to heed to the call of the leader of his party, Former President Mahama should he call on him to be the running mate of the NDC as they seek to wrestle power from the NPP come election 2020 in December.
A confident Oko Vanderpuije was of the firm belief that with him as the Vice Presidential candidate, the NDC is going to win not just the presidential election but also the parliamentary seats especially in the traditional Ga constituencies.
The running mate position of the NDC has been a subject of political discussion in recent weeks especially with barely six months to the 2020 parliamentary and presidential elections. The grapevine has it that Hon. Dr. Zanetor Rawlings, Dr. Kwabena Duffour, Mr. Alex Mould among others have all been scribbled down as possible running mate options for John Dramani Mahama.
