The Inspector General of Police, Mr Oppong Boanuh has announced the creation of an air wing of the Ghana Police Service.
As the name suggests, this wing will be responsible for monitoring criminal activities in the air using helicopters.
According to the IGP, this has become necessary taking into consideration the fact that crime in recent times have assumed sophisticated tendencies.
Mr Oppong Boanuh revealed that a hangar to house helicopters which will be used by the unit has already been completed pending the arrival of helicopters.
The IGP also revealed that about six officers have already undergone aviation and flying training in South Africa.
