Private legal practitioner, Maurice Ampaw has said pastors hold churches in trust of church members.
According to him no pastor can claim ownership of a church because they belong to the church members.
He said the Trustee’s law in Ghana forbids any pastor to claim ownership to a church; noting that pastors are only required to register a church in the name of the church members and not their personal name or a relative.
“No pastor owns a church. There is no pastor in this country who owns a church. ICGC does not belong to Otabil, he is a trustee. All the church properties and everything belongs to the church. There is no pastor who can say that in law, I own a church. You are just a trustee of the church. Every pastor is an agent of the church,” he said on Net 2TV.
