Hawa Koomson Will Not Resign, She’s Not Moving An Inch – Spokesperson

Spokesperson and special aide for the Minister for Special Development Initiatives, Moro Kabore has insisted that his boss, Mavis Hawa Koomson will not resign from her post as as she looks forward to serving the NPP and ensuring they win the next elections.

This comes after several organizations and groups continue to pile pressure on President Akufo Addo to sack Hawa Koomson after she admitted to firing a gun at a voters registration centre in Kasoa. Mavis Hawa Koomson added that it was an act of self defence.

“We call on the police to quickly investigate the circumstances under which this incident occurred. If it is found that the Minister breached the law, she should be prosecuted to the fullest extent possible under the law,” pressure group OccupyGhana in a statement said.

Chairman of the peace council, Rev. Emmanuel Asante also called for her resignation saying “If she doesn’t do that, the President must terminate her appointment”.

Leader of Imani Ghana, Franklin Cudjoe dared Akufo Addo to sack her or lose his friendship.

In a rebuttal, spokesperson for Hawa Koomson, Moro Kabore has firmly stated that his boss is not ready to resign as she sees nothing wrong with defending one’s self in Ghana.

“My minister has not committed any crime and if we want people to lay the blame for the violence on them, it should be the NDC, because they swore a bloodbath prior to the registration exercise; my minister is not resigning, my minister is not moving an inch; she is serving the government and also working to retain the NPP in power after the 2020 elections”, he told Kumasi based Angel FM.
