A cross section of Ghanaians on twitter have shared their stories on how the attitude of some health staff in government health institutions have caused pain to themselves and other family members in the past.
This comes after a man also narrated his experience on Facebook on how the unprofessionalism of a doctor and some nurses resulted in the death of his wife at the Ridge Hospital in Accra.
Just take a read at some of these stories and we can only hope that authorities will take note and make our health system better.
The doctor arrived early in the morning and asked the nurses whether they have given my mom any first aid but the nurses said no. I saw the anger in the doctor. He's speechless, he told them if this woman dies her blood will be on your heads. To cut everything short, mom died😭

The Ridge Hospital case is a shadow of the mess our public Health services and to a large extent most public agencies are in. The hospital which is supposed to keep you alive is a breeding grounds for your death. The police stations are worse; there's no law and order there

the hospital. Upon my arrival, I realized she had been made to sleep on a bed (not admission bed) for almost 2hours unattended to. No drug administered to alleviate her pain, no nurse or doctor had attended to her to find out what really was happening to her.

I furiously confronted a nurse at the ward, created a scene, before I saw one nurse come with some drugs and some syringes to inject my friend. Yes, I repeat, I had to angrily engage them for them to understand how serious the situation was.

Your health, not their concern. #ridgehospital

I had a very terrible experience at the emergency unit of the Ridge Hospital last year. Someone is about losing a life and nurses were unbothered. Some were watching Facebook videos.

Ridge Hospital is the worst in the country.

Experiences:
1. A friends dad died there in a chair becos of the same callous behaviour of the health workers n not professionals
2. The morgue attendant locked the place n took the key home. We had to wait for him for several hours
A colleague went to ridge hospital last year November with pregnancy. They administered some medication to her. She came back home and complained she couldn't see. Her sister quickly rash her back to the same facility and she died instantly. Now I understand why Ethel died hmm

I have witnessed some before at Tech Hospital in Kumasi.

A student had an Asthma attack and was brought in .
Whiles she was suffering in the waiting room I decided to go check why the guy who entered kept so long … not knowing he has left and Doc is playing game on his iPhone
there. In fact the health officer virtually told me that I don't have sense for visiting the clinic during this season of Covid-19. I wanted to polish some damaged parts of my teeth as it was giving me problems. They just make visiting health facilities in Ghana unattractive.
