John Mensah, the former Black Stars captain and pivotal figure in Ghana’s football history, has revealed that he spends most of his time at church since retiring from professional football seven years ago.

Mensah, who played a crucial role during Ghana’s impressive run to the quarterfinals of the 2010 FIFA World Cup and their second-place finish in the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations, now dedicates his time to spreading the word of God.

At the recent Ghana Football Awards ceremony, Mensah shared his new focus: “I’m just keeping myself in the church all the time, so I’m always visiting the church because I’m not on the field anymore so that’s how I’m keeping myself cool.”

He continued, “My church is Resurrection Power, New Generation Church. So I’m just worshipping there. But I keep my feet to the God Almighty to worship Him well and also advise my people and also to do evangelism to my people to also know God very well.”

Mensah, who also had a successful club career including a stint with Sunderland, earned 86 caps and scored three goals for the national team. His transition from football to faith highlights his commitment to his spiritual life and his desire to inspire others.
