Ghana Football Legend Advises Foreign-Born Ghanaian Players To Reject Black Stars

Charles Taylor, a hero of the Ghana Premier League, has urged Ghanaian players born abroad to refuse any invitation to play for the Black Stars.

The Ghana Football Association [GFA] and other key stakeholders are working nonstop to convince some talented Ghanaian diaspora footballers to transfer nationalities and represent Ghana at the international level.

However, ex-Ghana international Taylor has warned these youngsters to ignore any calls from Ghana football officials attempting to persuade them to represent the country on the international scene.

“Let us question ourselves why these players don’t want to play for the Black Stars,” Asante Kotoko’s captain said.

“Perhaps they saw something, because whatever happened to someone else could happen to them.”

“I’ve said that players outside of Ghana should not hesitate to switch allegiance in a year [then you’re out of the game],” Taylor remarked.

The Ghana Football Association is said to have held conversations with Chelsea’s Callum Hudson-Odoi, Arsenal’s Eddie Nketia, and Brighton’s Tarig Lamptey about switching allegiances and playing for Ghana.
