Fuel Prices Goes Up, Chasing GH¢8 Threshold

Fuel prices at local pumps in Ghana have risen as Ghanaians to pay roughly Gh¢7.90 for diesel and same as Gh¢7.90 for petrol for a litre of fuel.

The price hikes have already taken effect at Total, one of Ghana’s most popular gasoline stations, with a litre of diesel costing Gh¢7.990 and a litre of petrol also costing Gh¢7.990.

In response, Shell and other petrol stations across the country have began to adjust their prices.

According to the IES, Brent prices will rise by 30pesawas, while gasoline prices would rise by 2.78 percent.

“Customers should expect an increase in local fuel costs in the near future as a result of the positive global price shift.” According to the agency, which issued a warning four days ago, fuel prices are anticipated to rise from 7.49 pesawas to 7.90 cedis per litre at the pumps this year.
