Fear Grips Parents And Students As Teacher And Spouse Test Positive For COVID-19 At Accra Girls

The Ghana Education Service has confirmed that a teacher and spouse have tested positive for COVID-19 at Accra Girls Senior High School.

“As at 6th July, 2020, six (6) students, a teacher and spouse have been confirmed as positive for COVID-19 in Accra Girls Senior High School”, the GES said in a statement.

“A team of experts from Ghana Health Service at various levels led by national officers and their colleagues from Ghana Education Service have been to the school to put in the necessary control measures. GES and GHS wish to assure the general public and all parents that in accordance with the laid down protocols on the Covid-19 pandemic that have been issued to all schools, the necessary steps have been taken and the six (6) confirmed students, the teacher and spouse have been taken to a Treatment Centre for further management and are currently doing well”. The statement further said.

The GES statement comes after reports of six students contracting the virus sparked chaos in the school with parents besieging the place for their wards.

Ghana’s total case count now stands at 21,077 with 4,878 active cases. The recoveries now stand at 16,070 with 129 deaths.
