Electoral Commission Refutes NDC’s Claim Of Scrapping Polling Stations

The Electoral commission seems to have had enough of allegations from the opposition which seems to be making every effort and step they are taking to seem futile especially in the new voter card exercise registration.

The minority in parliament recently accused the EC of scrapping away 6, 780 polling stations in the currently ongoing registration exercise but the EC was in parliament to put a halt to such claims and to put more light on what they said exactly.

The EC met up with the special budget committee in parliament and vehemently denied making such claims but then rather suggested a cluster system where 6,780 polling stations would have to register card applicants for just 6 days.

In an interview with the EC’s director of communications Sylvia Annoh on citifm, this what she had to say, “The EC has said in its statement that it had never said that. We are not scrapping any registration center or polling station. The number is outrageous and it is in the statement that if it was so, I’m sure the others would have reacted but it is not true and it is not factual and it is important to let the general public or the electorate or our stakeholders know the truth that this is it, that we are not scrapping any registration center or polling stations and for that matter each and every applicant so long as they qualify would be given the opportunity to register”.

It is therefore false claims that EC is scrapping away some polling stations.
