Dumsor Looms As ‘Begging’ Finance Minister Refuses To Pay Debts – Mahama Discloses

National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama has disclosed that the energy is crippled with debt because of government’s refusal to pay the Independent Power Producers.

This according to him has led to threats of a shut down of the country’s power supply.

He explained that the country currently owes the Independent Power Producers 1.5 billion dollars because the ruling government refused to stick to the Energy Sector Levy Act the erstwhile NDC administration implemented to pay off debts owed.

He noted that the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta goes begging the Independent Power Producers anytime they threaten a shut down.

In some instances, when the threats becomes dire he finds some little money and hands it over to the Independent Power Producers and ask them to be patient.
