Freelance Investigative Journalist, Manasseh Azure Awuni has said that he should not be blamed for the so-called Mahama Ford bribe saga which many say was a major reason that led to the loss of the NDC and President Mahama in the 2016 elections.
The so-called ford bribery saga was a topical issue in the run-up to the 2016 elections when then-President Mahama was implicated in a documentary by Manasseh Azure Awuni which suggested that the President had accepted what may be a bribe from a Burkinabe businessman, Djibril Kanazoe.
Over 4 years after that incident, many NDC supporters believe that documentary, which was released just a few weeks before election 2016, and the controversy it generated was one of the major reasons that contributed to the NDC’s defeat in that elections.
Following a post made by Manasseh Azure Awuni, in which he wondered why ghanaians are surprised that President Akufo-Addo has failed to deliver 88 hospitals in one year just like he promised, an NDC fanatic reminded him that it was his “lies” about the so-called ford bribery that brought Akufo-Addo to power.
However, Manasseh responded in disagreement, saying he should not be blamed because by taking the ford gift, President Mahama breached the directives he himself gave to his ministers.
