Do Not Set Foot In Parliament; Gov’t Can Go And Burn The Sea – Asiedu Nketia Warns NDC MPs

Addressing party supporters in the Western Region, Asiedu Nketiah firmly stated, “No NDC MP should set foot in Parliament. If they insist, they can go ahead and burn the sea. There is no parliamentary business at this point that qualifies as an emergency. Any recall of Parliament would only serve to perpetuate the unrelenting corruption we have witnessed over the past eight years.”

With the general elections fast approaching, National Democratic Congress (NDC) Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketiah has instructed the party’s Members of Parliament to boycott any emergency recall of Parliament, citing ongoing concerns about alleged corruption.

The NDC Chairman accused the governing party of attempting to further their corrupt agenda with only a few weeks left before the elections. “They still want to push forward with their corrupt practices despite the limited time remaining. We will not engage with them today or tomorrow. Parliament has its rules, and we will adhere to those, regardless of what others say,” he asserted.

This directive comes in the wake of a Supreme Court ruling overturning Speaker Alban Bagbin’s decision to declare four parliamentary seats vacant. The court’s decision favored Majority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin, intensifying tensions between the opposing parties as the election nears.

Asiedu Nketiah’s remarks highlight the growing political friction and the NDC’s determination to challenge what they perceive as malpractice by the ruling government.
