The traditional authorities at Ofinso South constituency has fined some aggrieved NPP supporters for Invoking curses in the Offin River.

The traditional council has demanded 12 sheep, 6 fowls, 6 crates of eggs and a box of schnapps to pacify the gods.

After consultations, the culprits were summoned to appear before the paramount chief of Offinso, Nana Wife Akenten III.

The chiefs explained that it was a taboo to curse anyone in the Ofinso River, explaining that the deity abhors the act.

The Baamuhene of Offinso, Nana Kofi Adu- Boahen, told Kumasi FM that the culprits have committed an act of abomination.

“We don’t use the river for curses. We only ask for blessings and positive prayer requests from the deity. Moreover, it is only the Offinso chief who has the authority to go and slaughter a sheep in the river. It is a big spiritual challenge for us. A few days after the act, we witnessed a bad omen,” he said.

The culprit, who are supporters of NPP, accused the party leadership of manipulating the vetting process to make the incumbent go unchallenged.

General secretary of NPP, John Boadu has already condemned the act.
