The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has succeeded in getting an injunction against the NDC Member of Parliament for Assin North, James Quayson.
Confirming the news, lawmaker for Tamale North, Alhassan Suhuyini wondered why the ruling party will make such a move at a time it is calling for consensus building in Parliament.
“He wrote on Facebook, “Your government that publicly says it is seeking to build cooperation and consensus in parliament has since this disagreement started, initiated prosecution against the minority’s ranking member of the Finance Committee on trump up charges, 5yrs after he handed over as Dep. finance Minister.
“This morning at the Supreme Court, Frank Davies brought an injunction application against minority MP for Assin North.
The Supreme Court panel, made up of;
1. Justice Yonny Kulendi
2. Justice Jones Dotse
3. Justice Gertrude Torkonoo
4. Justice Henrietta Mensa-Bonsu
5. Justice Nene Amegatcher
6. Justice Agnes Dordzie
7. Justice Avril Lovelace Johnson
has directed Frank Davies to do personal service on the MP, since he couldn’t find the speaker to serve.
Should the injunction be served on the MP personally as the apex court has directed, it will mean that the NDC will lose one of out the 137 number it counts on ahead of the controversial e-levy vote.
