Amidu’s Extreme Rigidness Could Have Contributed To His Failure – Manasseh Azure

Published

on

Investigative journalist, Manasseh Azure Awuni believes Martin Amidu may have contributed to his abrupt end as the Special Prosecutor.

According to him, Mr. Amidu’s “holier than thou” posture as the SP affected his effectiveness when in office.

He noted in Facebook post that Martin Amidu should have exercised some flexibility in his dealings at the OSP.

In a reaction to Mr. Amidu’s 27-paged explosive response to the Presidency’s reply to his (Amidu) resignation, Manasseh stated, “It is also worth pointing out that apart from the interference, Martin Amidu’s extremely rigid posture and human relations could have contributed to his failure. It is possible to be flexible without compromising on your integrity or values.

“To succeed as a corruption fighter, you must work with with others. You must work with the good people and the bad people. You must learn to play your cards well and use people to get what you want without they knowing you’re using them. You cannot be an island and succeed.

“If you stand on a moral Afadzato and perceive or deal with all the rest from the valley of sin, you will achieve very little or nothing.”

The Supreme Court has adjourned its hearing of the 2020 Election Petition to Tuesday January 26, 2021.

The petitioner in the 2020 Presidential Election Petition, John Dramani Mahama, has sought a review of a ruling on some 12 questions he wanted the 1st Respondent, Electoral Commission to answer after the court had earlier dismissed similar applicaion.

Lawyer for the petitioner on Wednesday January 20 told the court at the beginning of hearing that he has come to seek a review of the ruling on their application for interrogatories the previous day.

The court ruled that “the crucial issue of relevancy has not been established in this Application” emphasizing the various amendments that have been made to the Court Procedures and Rules, the latest being C.I 99.

“We are strictly bound by C.I 99 and therefore will not apply Order 22 of C.I 47 OF 2004 in this circumstance.

“We accordingly refuse to grant the application and same is accordingly dismissed”, the court ruled.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has trimmed down the number of ministries in his second administration from 36 to 29.

Consequently, the number of ministers, deputy ministers and regional ministers to be appointed will not exceed 85.

The list of qualified Ghanaians who will serve as ministers and deputy ministers in President Akufo-Addo’s second term will be released this week as soon as Parliament constitutes its Appointments Committee.

The Director of Communications at the Presidency, Mr Eugene Arhin, told Graphic Online in Accra Tuesday [Jan 19, 2021] that the list, which would be printed on green sheets in the form of a statement, would contain a mixture of both old and new ministers, but the number would certainly not go beyond 85, as against the 126 in the first term.
