A minority member in Parliament, Hon. Kwame Agbodza alleged that, he has observed a massive deployment of security officials to the Eastern Border of the country during his recent visit to the Volta Region.
According to him, the deployment was done to prevent people believed to be Togolese from participating in the upcoming Voters Registration Exercise.
“ Something I’ve noticed over the weekend when I was in the Volta Region. A massive deployment of forces to the Eastern border of the country ostensibly just to make sure that, people who are deemed to be Togolese don’t come and register when they register”.
He expressed his concerns that this deployment could mar the diplomatic relations between Ghana and Togo.
He continued and cautioned the government to be mindful of Ghanaians living in Togo who could be disenfranchised due to this deployment.
Mr. Agbodza said the people of the Volta Region are displeased with this action by the government.
“ I think that the government must watch it.
It is becoming something that is annoying, how let me tell you, it is annoying the people of the Volta Region and the government must better watch it”.
