The President, and leader of the governing New Patriotic Pary, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo, has slammed his party for their flagrant abuse and wanton disregard for laid COVID-19 safety protocols during last week’s parliamentary primaries.
During last week’s parliamentary primaries, which was held at electoral area level to prevent overcrowding, party delegates and other enthusiasts in their over-zealousness disregarded all safety protocols, especially after their preferred candidates had been declared victorious.
Many concerned Ghanaians called for a strict punishment to be instituted against such persons, a call which was also trumpeted by the opposition NDC.
However, speaking at an event to acclaim him as the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party for the 2020 election, the President condemned the utter disregard for the safety protocols in no uncertain terms, saying such a thing should not happen in a country where the government is working so hard to ensure the safety of the citizens.
