Jailed socialite and actress, Rosemond Brown, popularly known as, Akuapem Poloo has landed in the Nsawam Female Prison despite being granted bail.
According to the Deputy Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Prisons Service ASP Samuel Kofi Opoku, in an interview with Christian Agyei Frimpong, host of Onua FM’s entertainment talk show Anigye Mmre, Akuapem Poloo was brought to their custody last Thursday and has remained there.
Akuapem Poloo was granted bail on April 21 by the Criminal Court 2 Division of the High Court at GH¢80,000 with two sureties, pending an appeal by her lawyer Andy Vortia.
Akuapem Poloo was on convicted on her own plea by the Circuit Court in Accra after pleading guilty to three charges, thus the publication of obscene materials, engaging in domestic violence, namely conduct that in any way undermines another person’s privacy or integrity and engaging in domestic violence that in any way detracts or is likely to detract from another person’s dignity and worth as a human being.
She was sentenced to 90 days on each count but the court said, the sentence must run concurrently, meaning she will only serve a 90-day jail term which is three months.
